SLIDING INTO 2026...
A Blank Canvas Awaits!
The start of 2026 has been about closing loops and clearing the runway. We’re in the midst of wrapping up outstanding obligations from 2025 and recalibrated our small team into a leaner, more focused, more effective force. The last couple of years came with their share of growing pains. Still, I’m genuinely happy to say that RAID — and the creators within it — have settled into a strong, steady groove, with fresh new faces joining us in this new year. RAID isn’t just comic creators; we have animators, writers, VFX artists, cinematographers, and so much more here now — such a truly diverse array of talented individuals. The atmosphere in the space has never been better, and we’re heading into the new year energized, optimistic, and ready to make good things happen.
All outstanding books are now at press or actively shipping, with two exceptions: my long-overdue Kukuburi and Aardehn: Awakenings from Eric Vedder and Sheldon Carter. Unfortunately, life has a way of intervening — sometimes through responsibility, sometimes through loss, or simply through chaos — and the work you care about most can get pushed aside. But both books will get done and will be worth the wait.
Issue 2 of BLITZ is at the printer, while the team is already deep into issues 3 and 4. I couldn’t be prouder of this magazine — of the crew behind it, and of the incredible creators who’ve brought their voices and vision to its pages. It’s growing fast (in all the right ways), and we’re excited to expand its circulation and get BLITZ onto shelves near you.

Looking ahead, we’re doubling down on getting RAID in front of more people: more conventions — especially across Canada — and locking in solid book and magazine distribution on both sides of the 49th parallel.
Finally, I’m excited to flag two major RAID Press projects launching on Kickstarter in the coming months. We’ve mentioned them before, but they deserve the spotlight. And honestly? They’re just the beginning. There’s a lot of fun ahead.
Also, take a peek at some of the great stuff our good friends and colleagues are up to below!
Let’s do this.

Then, in May, we have Heroes of the Homefront: Comics & Creators…
This project is an oversized, two-volume celebration of Canada’s Golden Age of comic books. This remarkable era flourished during World War II. The set features a newly redesigned and expanded edition of Heroes of the Homefront, now subtitled The Creators, which spotlights the pioneering artists and writers who shaped this distinctive period in Canadian comics history.
Accompanying it is an all-new companion volume, The Comics, a stunning visual archive showcasing more than 750 comic book covers from the era. Together, these books offer an unprecedented look at the characters, creators, and cultural impact of a time when Canadian comics stepped into the spotlight.
This collection is both a tribute and a time capsule, an essential addition for fans, historians, and anyone passionate about the legacy of Canadian storytelling.

That blank canvas framing is smart. I've seen too many studios get trapped in obligation loops where they're so busy fulfilling past commitments they can't actualy create anything new. The part about recalibrating into a leaner team resonates - sometimes pruning back is what unlocks real growth. My old animation collective fell apart because we kept adding more people thinking it'd solve our problems, but it just created more complexity and friction. Less can genuinely be more when everyone's aligned.
